The decision for us to start a ranching operation was born from a desire to work outdoors and make a tangible, positive impact on a piece of land in our community. We are conservationists first and foremost and raising livestock in a holistic, regenerative method allows us to work toward improving our degraded soils and restoring native habitat.
Meet Clint
Clint first fell in love with the outdoors as a child by spending time on his grandparent’s farm where they raised beef cattle and team roping horses. His passion for the outdoors was stoked by countless hours in the woods and on the water developing addictions to hunting and fly-fishing. Clint received an undergraduate degree in Wildlife Biology from the University of Georgia and a Master of Natural Resources degree from Auburn University. Over the last decade, Clint has been a private lands conservation consultant and has helped landowners around Georgia permanently protect over 5,000 acres. Clint is now using his experiences to manage and restore the Habitat Ranch property.
Meet Alexandra
Alexandra was born and raised on the Georgia coast, on St. Simons Island. She spent her childhood playing in the marshes, dunes, and oak hammocks surrounding the island. A naturalist at heart, Alexandra has always had a love for all things wild. Alexandra received both a Wildlife Biology and Fisheries Science degree from the University of Georgia. Alexandra has spent time as a field biologist studying sea turtles, feral cats, and nesting shorebirds, and is currently working as a full-time wildlife artist. Alexandra’s dedication to native plants and ecosystems helps drive the management decision-making at Habitat Ranch.
Meet Hoss
We brought Hoss home 2 days before we closed on the ranch property in 2022. In our eyes, it is as much his land as it is ours. Having him by our side on the ranch helps to serve as a constant reminder to enjoy and appreciate this land because he sure does. He’s been around cows since he was 4 months old and sometimes, we’re sure he thinks he’s either a cow or a cattle dog (we don’t have the heart to tell him he’s just a Labrador). We can’t imagine working on the land without him.
The Land
Habitat Ranch is now located in Watkinsville, Georgia! After two years on our first property it became clear it would not fit our needs for long term growth. After selling off the last of the cows in early 2024, we began looking for a new farm property and in the fall of that year we found the perfect place. We now look forward to growing our herd on this new property and seeing the habitat improvements we can make using our regenerative grazing practices.
