Whole Cow Deposit – Sold Out

$500.00

This non-refundable $500 deposit reserves your whole cow.
The remaining balance will be calculated based on $5.50/lb of the hanging weight of the cow. Expected average hanging weight for a whole cow is between 500 lbs and 600 lbs and will yield somewhere between 300 and 350 lbs of packaged beef with the option to keep bones for bone broth if desired.
Once the hanging weight has been confirmed by the processor your remaining balance will be due before pick-up.
Upon your reservation, you will decide whether you want to pick up at the farm in Winterville (just outside of Athens) or at the processor (North Georgia Meat Company in Ellijay).
After your half/whole reservation, we will contact you to go over a cut sheet to customize your beef order to fit your wants and needs.
Any questions regarding a half/whole order please do not hesitate to ask me via email at clint@habitatranch.com
Hint*** 30 lbs of beef takes up about 1 cubic foot of freezer space***

our beef:

✓ Improves Soil

Healthy soil is full of life!  Microbes, insects, and fungi work together to break down organic matter, creating nutrients for the plants. Healthy soil also absorbs more water, reducing runoff and making land more drought resistant.

✓ Is Nutrient Dense Food

Those healthy soils we talked about? They grow nutrient-dense plants which our cattle spend their life consuming, resulting in a highly nutritious product.  A lifetime spent on pasture means our cows rarely get sick. We never use antibiotics, chemical treatments, or growth hormones on our cows.

✓ Enhances the Habitat

Our practices improve biodiversity and support the reintroduction of native plant species.

✓ Supports your local Farmer

Eating locally not only supports small farmers but also reinvests in your community, improves the food security of your area, and is more environmentally friendly.  Buying direct from your farmer cuts out the middle man, giving you better quality beef for your money and allowing farmers to make a livable wage.

✓ Improves Ecosystem Services

Our practices allow the cow performs its role in the carbon cycle and sequester carbon back into the soil through organic matter.  Over time this improves the soil’s water-holding capacity.  When it rains, instead of running off, the water percolates through the soil, naturally filtering through the ground and eventually feeding back into our watershed.
